Offered for your consideration is this Antique 1891 Japanned Copper Flash Rolling Adjustable Book Stand Holder invented by August S Held of Freeport, IL. The Japanned copper on this gem is absolutely phenomenal as is the intricate & detailed design. On the bottom side center plate of the top holder it reads “PAT. APR. 28, 1891”. The patent number associated with this stand is 451,430. The top holder
features a lever locking mechanism that allows for the holder to be
tilted and locked in at multiple angles for the optimal reading
preference. Both upper and lower holders turn / rotate independently on the center axis. Tripod base has little castors that allow this to be rolled with ease. At the top of the tripod base there is a locking device / hub to adjust the height. The 4 spring-actuated wings have a hinge connection with the center plate. One wing carries an old weld /repair (see photo #5). This weld was done well and is secure. The stand measures 39-1/2″ high up to 48″ high with the holders (wings) in the vertical compact position x 23″ foot spread. With the holders (wings) in the horizontal expanded position it goes from 32-1/2″ to 42″ high. Top shelf with wings expanded (folded down) is 20-1/2″ wide x 10-1/2″ deep. Bottom shelf with wings expanded (folded down) is 24-3/4″ wide x 10-1/4″ deep.  This stand disassembles and will be shipped in the 8 pieces I show together in photo #10. It disassembles further into more pieces but that is as far as we need to achieve a more cost effective shipping rate. In my opinion this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a high caliber stand such as this.
